Together, We Can Make A Difference

Chairman’s Message (October 2009)

Indo American Forum of fort Bend (IAF) represents a rapidly growing Indo American community in Fort Bend County. Our primary objective is to foster goodwill through civic responsibility and community service by engaging Indo American community members of all ages.
Since inception in 2004, IAF has endeavored to make a positive difference in the community by encouraging and engaging members and others in active roles at many other organizations. Through fund raising efforts at Navratri and Annual Diwali Gala we raise funds that allow IAF to support and underwrite worthwhile causes that promote the goodwill of Indo American community.
On Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the new Stafford Center, IAF will celebrate a family fun event: Navaratri Garba and Raas. Bring your family, friends and neighbors to this exciting and engaging event that is close to home and that happens to be a value proposition.
On Friday, October 9, 2009 Indo American Forum will celebrate Diwali Dinner and Annual Gala at Texas Safari. This year’s program reflects a Bollywood theme and promises to be a very special affair. This elegant evening will be a great evening for pleasant engagement with your friends at Diwali time.  We encourage your participation at sponsorship levels that reflect the spirit of our community. As always, this event receives great reception and you are encouraged to secure your table and/or tickets in time.
This year IAF has planned to fund two major initiatives from the proceeds of these events. We are working to align with a major communitywide initiative like Santa’s Exchange to promote community service and giving to less-privileged children. The other major initiative is to become a lead sponsor of Sugar Land’s 50th Anniversary Celebration to promote civic responsibility and community service of Indo American residents of Sugar Land and Fort Bend County.
While we have achieved significant milestones in promoting the spirit of giving and sharing, a lot more needs to be done to ensure the bright future of our next generation. On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Indo American Forum of Fort Bend (IAF), I invite you to join us in this journey of fellowship to inspire and engage the growing multi-cultural populace of the local area.
Yours faithfully,

Naren Patel

Chairman’s Message (October 2007)

Indo American Forum of Fort Bend (IAF) represents the growing Indo American community in Fort Bend County. “Together, We Can Make a Difference” is the motto of IAF. The focus of the Indo-American Forum of Fort Bend is to encourage and promote participation in social, cultural and civic affairs to ensure a better future for the next generation of Indo-Americans. Indo-American Forum is the platform for all Indo Americans in Fort Bend County.
At this fourth annual gala I am happy to report that your organization, Indo American Forum of Fort Bend (IAF), is “On The Move,” and continues to break ALL records set at its inception. We would like to extend a heart felt “thank you” to our Gala Under writers, Platinum & Gold sponsors, donors, advertisers, supporters and the many other volunteers who have helped in attaining this noteworthy presence in the mainstream community.
A vision of the founding members, to provide a platform for Indo Americans to unite and progress, has turned into a meaningful reality. This year we had five very successful events under taken by our events chairs. We have created a positive atmosphere which has lead to increased participation by the Board of Trustees which has resulted in the materialization of our motto…“Together, we can make a difference”

IAF is “ON THE MOVE”
WE have moved our events to bigger and better Facilities
WE have increased our membership by 15%,
WE increased the participation at our Navratri Event by 200%
At this Diwali Gala we increased participation by almost 200%.
We increased our surplus by  400%
With many successful events and a growing membership, IAF is poised for growth. Our finances are sound and stable. IAF continues to support various causes and events which are broadly detailed on our web site, www.IndoAmericanForum.org. With your help we will embark on new projects in the community. IAF is a non-profit organization with a 501(C) 3 status. A portion of the surplus generated from different events is donated to worthy causes, for example, this year we are fortunate enough to be able to donate a sizable portion of our surplus to charity, thanks to All of you.

Creating and continuing a positive awareness of the Indian community to mainstream America is the primary goal of IAF, which is reflected by the presence of so many of our friends from other communities here today.
A lot has evolved in a short time since IAF was formed. As a relatively young organization IAF is very well positioned and continues to enjoy the excellent support of our members and community. Our Board of Trustees is well experienced for facing different challenges in establishing IAF as one of the premier organizations in Fort Bend
As your Chairman, I have had the pleasure and privilege of having served the members and the community and will continue to do so for one more year. Looking forward, I see an equally productive year ahead with our vision only being limited by the level of available resources, volunteers and finances. IAF has a big dream for the entire Indian-American Community in Fort Bend County. Let us commit ourselves to making a bigger impact in the coming months and years to leave a rich and recognizable heritage for the Indo-American Community.  I invite you to participate in this journey.
I am very appreciative and thankful to each and every one of the Board of Trustees for all your support this year. I further take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your active participation, for your generous donations and most importantly for being here to celebrate Diwali: A Festival of Lights.
Happy Diwali
In appreciation of your support,
K.C.Mehta
Chairman
Indo American Forum of Fort Bend

Chairman’s Message (October 2006)
At this third annual gala I am happy to report that your organization, Indo American Forum of Fort Bend (IAF), continues to achieve the milestones set at the inception, thanks to you and many other volunteers, donors, and supporters who have helped in attaining this noteworthy presence in the mainstream community.

A vision of the founding members, to provide a platform for Indo Americans to unite and progress has turned into a meaningful organization. Almost all of our members have committed for life membership, with few in the family and senior citizens category.

With major successful events and growing membership, IAF is poised for growth. Our finances are sound and stable. IAF continues to be the Johnny Appleseed of cultures, planting seeds of cultural harmony for the betterment of the community.

IAF continues to support various causes and events, broadly detailed on our web site, www.IndoAmericanForum.org. With your help we will embark on new projects in the local community.

IAF members have always risen to the occasion to support and aid in the disasters’ relief efforts. IAF has aided in the donation of woolen blankets over $ 44,000.00 to various charitable institutions in the local area, through the magnanimous generosity of Bal and Kamna Sharma.

A lot has evolved in a short time since IAF was formed. As a relatively new organization, IAF is very well positioned and continues to enjoy the excellent support of our members and community. The Board of Trustees is being increased to further expand the goals and missions of IAF. Our Board of Trustees is well experienced for facing different challenges in establishing IAF as one of the premier organizations in Houston.

With the upcoming celebrations of Sugar Land Town Square’s India’s Festival of Lights in conjunction with the Indo American Forum of Fort Bend on October 28th, IAF’s presence becomes much stronger in the Fort Bend County.

As your Chairman, I have had the pleasure and privilege of having served the members and the community for the last two years. I am very appreciative of all your support during my tenure. Now is the time to hand over the baton to a new leadership. Our Vice Chairman, Mr. K.C. Mehta, effective January 1st, 2007, will succeed me. He is a founding member and well versed with IAF and its missions, and is amply qualified to lead IAF to a higher level. I urge for your continued participation in various events and support Mr. Mehta as you have supported me, in making IAF as one of the leading organizations, and to leave a proud legacy for tomorrow’s Indo Americans.

In appreciation of your support,

Harvinder Arora

Chairman

Indo American Forum of Fort Bend
